What does a tomato look like in the photo

If you look at the photo, you are immediately attracted by the unusual shape of the tomato; outwardly, the fruit looks like a child's toy - a matryoshka. The skin is smooth but firm. When ripe, the tomato has a bright red color. In a green state, the fruit has a dark speck at the base.

One tomato weighs about 100-250 grams. If you cut the pulp, you can see four nests that contain seeds. The fruits are fragrant and sweet.

Due to its dense skin, it does not undergo cracking, even after heat treatment. This variety is ideal for pickling, preservation and fresh consumption.

Variety characteristics, yield

Features and characteristics:

  • The Matryoshka variety is a medium early species. From the moment the first shoots began to germinate and until full maturation, no more than 120 days pass.
  • A feature is the simultaneous appearance of ovaries and amicable ripening.
  • Fruits on the bush are collected in neat clusters of nine pieces. Tomatoes are small in size - fifteen centimeters in length, and weigh up to two hundred and fifty grams.
  • Planting can be done in greenhouses, vegetable gardens or small greenhouses. On open soil, the stems are not tied, in greenhouses they need to be shaped and tied to special trellises.

The yield is average. From 1 bush, approximately nine to thirteen kilograms are harvested. It was found by breeders that in the process of growing tomatoes in greenhouses, the yield is higher than in an open area.

Advantages and disadvantages

Until now, opinions about this variety differ. Some gardeners were disappointed, others, on the contrary, consider it one of the best species.

The benefits include:

  • unusual shape;
  • rich and appetizing color and smell of the fruit;
  • dense peel, due to which the integrity of the fruit is preserved;
  • transportability;
  • high taste data;
  • in the process of leaving on open soil does not need to be pinned.

The disadvantages include:

  • poor resistance to late blight;
  • simultaneous maturation;
  • low, in comparison with other varieties, productivity.

However, a lot depends on the region, weather conditions and the agricultural technical skills of the owner.

Landing rules

Special care is necessary at the very beginning, proper preparation of the soil and planting material is the key to a good harvest in the future. The matryoshka tomato can only be grown by seed. Sowing seeds is carried out at the beginning of March, then at the end of May the seedlings will be ready for planting in open ground.

This is done as follows:

  • Soak the seed and leave in a warm place for three to four days. Not all seeds will sprout, so it is initially important to choose high-quality material that will quickly grow in the future in the garden plot.
  • The seedlings are now transplanted into containers such as peat cups or paper honeycombs. As a soil, you need to use garden soil, sawdust and peat (proportion 8: 1: 2). The peat supplement serves as a good nourishment and saturates the seedlings with minerals, sawdust gives lightness. All parts are mixed and disinfected with potassium permanganate. At the bottom of a glass or other container, small holes must be made, then the prepared earth is poured.
  • The containers need to be covered with glass or film, this will create the effect of a greenhouse, then install the containers in a room where the temperature is at least 23 degrees.
  • As soon as several leaves appear on the stem, you need to pick. Weak seedlings are removed, and strong seedlings are transplanted in separate cups, this will strengthen the roots.

It is important to harden the seedlings 7 days before transplanting the seedlings into the soil. You should take the container outside for an hour to adapt to natural conditions. Every day, you need to increase the residence time so that at the end of the seedlings there is at least 12 hours in the open air.

Plants are ready to be transplanted to an open area. When planting in open ground, seedlings can be dropped in with containers if peat containers were used, as they will gradually dissolve. Now it all depends on leaving.

Let's pay attention to the main points.

WateringIt should be rare and moderate. Due to excessive pouring, tomatoes can suffer from fungal diseases. It is optimal to water once every 7 days. In hot weather, you can water the bushes in a day or two.
Top dressing

Nitrogen-containing substances are used as fertilizer: ammonium sulfate and nitrophosphate.

During the formation of inflorescences and ovaries, it is necessary to feed the seedlings with boron and magnesium. In the future, potassium and phosphorus are used, these substances contribute to rapid maturation. However, everything should be in moderation, if you over-fertilize the plants, this will negatively affect fruiting.

TyingIt is not worth carrying out, because the bushes are not large.

Reviews of the matryoshka tomato

The matryoshka tomato causes different impressions among gardeners, so you should try this variety yourself in order to get your own opinion.

Here are a few reviews of people who have been planting these tomatoes for several years.

Tatyana writes on the forum of the site for gardeners: I was very attracted by the shape of the fruit. The tomatoes are neat, small in size and very tasty. We eat them fresh and use them for preservation. I did not notice any particular difficulties in leaving.

Alla: I have been planting such a tomato for several years in a row. I am pleased with the good yield and disease resistance. The fruits are delicious and fragrant, just the way I like it.

Timur formulated his impressions: I planted tomatoes this summer, the weather was rainy throughout the season. The seedlings got sick with late blight with regular spraying and feeding. As a result, the fruits are small and the harvest is small. I was not satisfied.

So, the hybrid tomato matryoshka is unique in its kind. Ideal for winter storage.

The main thing is to take responsibility for planting plants, and then take proper care of them. A good harvest will not keep you waiting!
