Pool in the country: types and their description

The design of the pool can be different, the technology of work and the choice of the necessary materials depend on it. There are the following types of pools:

  • Wireframe
  • Plastic
  • Stationary

You can purchase a ready-made metal structure with a stretched PVC film. Such a pool is sold immediately with waterproofing. It is necessary to assemble the structure and pump water. A plastic basin is a bowl made of polymer materials.

Plastic is a rather fragile material and can burst during an impact at negative temperatures. Acrylic bowls are more durable, so it is recommended to give preference to them.

Frame and plastic pools are installed for the season. The stationary pool is installed once for a long time. You can do it yourself, but it will take significant time and material costs. Here you should consider the system for cleaning, filling and draining water.

Pool location and size: how to choose

Before building a pool, you need to choose a location. It is very important that in the future there are no problems in caring for him. It is undesirable for plants, bushes and trees to grow near the pool.

Plants will gravitate towards moisture and their roots can damage the waterproofing. In addition, the wind in the pool will constantly have leaves, twigs, pollen, etc. It is important that the structure is protected from the prevailing wind direction.

It is recommended to place the pool on clay soil. In the event of a water leak, the clay will help stop it. It is better to place the bowl closer to the water supply. Thus, it will be easier to fill with water and carry out the necessary communications.

In addition to the location of the pool, it is important to determine the size of the future structure. If you plan to swim in the pool, then it is preferable to choose a rectangular shape. For relaxation, rest with the whole family, the bowl can be made round.

The optimal depth of the pool to feel free is considered to be about half a meter. This depth will allow you to swim, flounder and play in the water without fear for the lives of children. For jumping from a height, the depth must be made more - at least 2.3 meters.

You can make a combined version with an optimal depth for children and adults. This is a complex structure that will require the creation of a dividing wall. The size of the pool can be any, depending on preferences and free area.

The optimal size for a single lane is 2.5x5 m. The size of a pool with two lanes is increased to 4.5 m in width. Having decided on the place and dimensions of the future pool, you can start building it.

Materials and tools for work

Before starting the construction of the pool, it is necessary to prepare materials and tools. For work you will need:

  • Wood planks
  • Concrete
  • Cladding material
  • Armature
  • Pump
  • Stairs

A set of joinery and carpentry tools for building a pool is available in the house of each owner, and for work you should prepare:

  • Shovel
  • Roulette
  • Level
  • Silicone roller
  • Corner
  • Knife
  • Sealant
  • Perforator
  • Concrete mixer
  • Drill
  • Grinder
  • Pliers

After preparing all the tools and materials, you can start building the pool.

Step-by-step instructions for building a pool

The construction is carried out in several stages.

Digging a pit. First, you should clear the area of debris, mark the area of the future bowl. An important stage of construction is digging a foundation pit. In this case, the walls should have a slight slope of 20-25 degrees to the center. Thus, the soil will not crumble and the walls will be strong. The size of the pit should be slightly larger than the intended project.

Leveling the bottom and laying the waterproofing. Next, mix sand with gravel and pour about 0.3 m on the bottom and compact well. Then put roofing material in 2-3 layers and overlap the walls. Instead of roofing material, you can use bitumen or liquid rubber. It is important to check the levelness of the surface with a building level.

Formwork installation and concrete pouring. Build a formwork from wooden planks around the perimeter of the bowl. When planning the descent into the water by steps, formwork should also be built. The formwork must be very strong to withstand the mass of liquid concrete. Further, to strengthen the walls, fittings are laid, and then concrete is poured into the formwork.

Lay a layer of rubble on the bottom and fill it with hydro-concrete. Remove the formwork after 2 days. Next, moisten a concrete bowl with water and cover with polyethylene. You can make it easier: prepare a pit and order a bowl from the manufacturer. Place a bowl in the dug pit, bury it with sand and spill it with water. This will make the structure fit better.

Installation of hydraulic communications. During the solidification of the bottom of the future pool, communications should be carried out to drain the water. To do this, dig a trench and lay a pipe to the lowest point of the bottom slope from the sewer. Laying should be done with a slight slope to prevent water stagnation.

Bowl waterproofing. Smear the concrete with bitumen mastic, and then paste over with two layers of roofing material.
Surface finishing. For the final decoration, you can use mosaics, ceramic tiles or other material. When using mosaics, the surface should be leveled with plaster. This material is flexible and it will not work to create a flat plane.

At the final stage, install equipment for water supply, as well as for its cleaning and disinfection. Making a pool in the country with your own hands is not difficult, the main thing is to follow the sequence of work. If necessary, you can consult with specialists.

Pool maintenance

It is important to take care of the pool after the construction. Chemicals should be used to avoid algae growth. Potassium permanganate, chlorine-containing agents can be added to the water.

For water purification, ionization and quartzization are carried out. Do not forget to clean the water from fallen leaves, twigs, grass and dust. To do this, you should purchase a special water vacuum cleaner or use a net. If possible, you can install an awning that will protect against debris.

The bottom and sides of the pool should always be cleaned after draining the water. For the winter, clean the surface and treat with anti-corrosion agents. Fill the bowl halfway with water. The hydraulic system and cleaning equipment must be dismantled. The duration of its operation depends on the correct and timely maintenance of the pool.
